AMPHITRITE

| Built 1874 - 1883
by Harlan and Hollingsworth, Wilmington, Delaware.
AMPHITRITE was rebuilt at Norfolk Navy Yard 1890 - 1894
where it was commissioned 23 April 1895. It saw active
service in the Spanish-American War and was stricken from
the Navy List on 24 July 1919. It was sold and converted
to a floating hotel and still in use at Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida in 1967. |
